This T&Cs template has been designed for online shops selling products. It is suitable for:

  • B2C websites;
  • B2B websites; and
  • websites selling both B2B and B2C.

The T&Cs will help you to comply with English and EU law relating to the operation of an ecommerce website, manage the legal risks associated with such websites, and control how the website - and the material on the website - is used by website visitors.

This template is based upon our premium website T&Cs, and is specifically concerned with the use of an online store. It is not directly concerned with contracts for the sale of goods. It should therefore be used in conjunction with appropriate T&Cs of sale.

Online shops will almost invariably need a privacy policy (to comply with data protection legislation) and a cookies policy (to comply with privacy laws relating to cookies). For a document combining both of these elements, see: privacy and cookies policy.

This document features in all three versions of our online shop template pack.

Will these T&Cs cover me if I sell my products in the USA?

These T&Cs are concerned with the use of the website, not the sale of products as such.

Generally speaking it is most important to comply with the law in your home jurisdiction, so if your business is based in England and Wales this template may be appropriate for covering website usage. If, however, you do a lot of business in the USA, you should have all relevant documents reviewed by a US attorney.
