Software support and maintenance contracts

These contract templates cover the provision of support services and maintenance services in relation to software.

Support services may include some or all of the following services:

  • the making available of a helpdesk for the logging of queries and issues;
  • the provision of assistance in relation to the use of the supported software, whether through the helpdesk or otherwise; and/or
  • the resolution of bugs and other issues affecting the software.

Maintenance services will typically include the provision of updates to the maintained software, and sometimes also the installation and configuration of those updates.

Support and maintenance services are related in a number of respects. For example, issues identified through the support services may ultimately be resolved by means of the maintenance services.
