When you purchase a template on our website, you may be offered the opportunity of purchasing proofreading and/or legal review services at a fixed price.
This page describes those add-on services.
The proofreading services consists of a professional proofreading reviewing your document, and returning to you a marked-up copy of the document with suggested changes. A proofreading will cover numbering, orphaned cross-references, formatting, spelling, grammar, stylistic consistency and typographic errors.
The mark-up is supplied in Word (.doc) format using tracked changes.
The proofreading service relates specifically to the template in respect of which it is purchased. You should fully adapt a template you purchase before sending it to us for proofreading.
The typical turn-around time for proofreading is 2 working days, although it may take up to 5 working days.
If you purchase the proofreading service, but later decide that you do not need it, let us know and, providing we have not started work on the matter, we will give you a full refund of the proofreading fee.
We reserve the right to cancel a proofreading order and/or quote a revised price for a proofreading job if:
If we cancel, we will notify you by email and give you a full refund.
Note: a proofreader is not a legal expert, and this service does not include any legal drafting.
Legal review service
The legal review service consists of a legal expert reviewing your document and returning to you a mark-up of the document with suggested changes. We will usually need to speak to you on the phone about the circumstances in which the document will be used, and if the document is to be published on the web we may require access to the relevant website or web application. We may request that you send us relevant documentation, such as insurance policies and related legal documents.
Our expertise is in English law. Accordingly, we can only provide the legal review in relation to contracts that are governed by English law, and the review will only address issues arising under English law (or under EU law as it applies in England and Wales).
As with the proofreading service, the mark-up will be supplied in Word (.doc) format using tracked changes.
A legal review typically takes 4 or 5 working days. We will let you know if your review may take longer.
A legal review will involve an analysis of the document for sense, internal consistency, legality and legal enforceability. We will take instructions from you as to the context in which the document is being used, and we will make any adaptations necessary to ensure that the document handles relevant legal risks in an appropriate way.
If you purchase this service, but change your mind before we start work, just let us know and we will give you a full refund.
We reserve the right to cancel a legal review order and/or quote a revised price for a legal review job if:
