Translation services terms and conditions

This document is a set of standard terms and conditions for a translation services business. It may be used by companies, partnerships or sole traders.

Some of the key legal issues for translators and their clients relate to copyright and other intellectual property rights. In these terms and conditions, the client grants to the translator a right to use the source material, and gives the translator assurances that such use will not breach any third party rights. Similarly, the translator may grants to the client a right to use the translations. Alternatively, the translator's rights in the translations may be assigned (i.e. transferred) to the client. In either case, the translator may give its own assurances to the client regarding intellectual property rights infringement.

The customer is assumed to be a business in this document, and is not applicable to B2C translation arrangements.
